The Animals

Disney’s Animal Kingdom is one of the best places in the world to see animals of all kind! From monkeys and apes to lions and tigers, they have them all! You can ride along on an African Safari or walk the trails and explore on your own. The trails include the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail, the Maharaja Jungle Trek, and many Discovery Island trails (around the Tree of Life).

Be on the lookout for animals not on the trails too! There is a crocodile in Dinoland USA and there are monkeys in Asia. And there are smaller animals and birds, almost everywhere you look!

DPP Tip- Pick up a guide at the entrance to each trail to easily identify the animals you will come across.

The Attractions

Of course there are plenty of rides and shows too! Expedition Everest, Flight of Passage, and DINOSAUR are some of the greatest thrill rides in all of Walt Disney World, and Festival of the Lion King and Finding Nemo the Musical are the two best shows as well (honorable mention goes to show Up! A Great Bird Adventure). There are plenty of rides for the little one too! Triceratops Spin and Na’vi River Journey are fun for all ages. The Kilimanjaro Safari is the perfect combination of both a ride and a great way to see the animals.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom has some of the best street entertainment too, such as drumming shows in Africa and a Bollywood dance party in Asia.

DPP Tip- As you enter the park grab a Times Guide for all show times or check your My Disney Experience app for show times and FastPass+.

The Food!

I can’t say enough about the food at Animal Kingdom! Disney Park Princess favorites include the Nomad Lounge, Flame Tree BBQ, Yak & Yeti, and the Dawa Bar, but they are just the tip of the iceberg! There is a fantastic character meal at Tusker House too. The newest restaurants in Pandora and in Africa offer different cuisines from around the world.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom has much to offer in the way of adult beverages too! There is international beer, wine, and cocktails in almost every restaurant and bar around the theme park.

DPP Tip – We love Nomad Lounge! Attached to Tiffins, this is the perfect place to grab a couch, order a cocktail and some small plates, and cool off.

The Little Things

Beyond rides and shows there are so many other things to see and do! Spend some time playing in The Boneyard playground. Join the Wilderness Explorers- earn badges and fun facts on this interactive and fun scavenger hunt. Take a train to Rafiki’s Planet Watch to see the petting zoo and animal care center. Check out the Conservation Station. There you can learn how Disney’s Animal Kingdom and the Disney Conservation Fund work together in their commitment to save wildlife and protect the planet.

One of the best things you can do to enjoy Disney’s Animal Kingdom is just to take time to enjoy the elements– look at the plant life and details in the Tree of Life. All around the park you can see how amazing and diverse our world is by the designs and décor of this incredible theme park.

DPP Tip- Older children and adults are sure to love the Wild Africa Trek. It’s  a privately guided VIP expedition (featuring amazing African food too)! Check at guest services or book in advance by calling 407-WDW-Tour
