One of the best activities at Walt Disney World is relaxing or playing at one of the many swimming pools at the different resorts on property. Here are my favorite ones.
Even though the Walt Disney World theme parks are full of rides, shows, characters, and about a billion things to do, one of the best things to enjoy while vacationing at Walt Disney World is taking time out of the theme parks to enjoy your resort pool. Whether it’s an afternoon break, or a whole day, these pools are sure to make a splash with your family!
Stormalong Bay (Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts)
Stormalong Bay, the resort’s main pool, is more water park than pool! With a lazy river, amazing pirate ship water slide, and sand-bottom, zero-entry pool, there is something for everyone. It is by far the best pool on property.
Stormalong Bay is also right next to Beaches & Cream, the Beach Club‘s amazing ice cream parlor (although it has much more than ice cream, including an amazing burger). And if you’d like libations while you’re enjoying the pool, stop by Hurricane Hanna’s Waterside Bar and Grill. They have all kinds of specialty cocktails as well as beer and wine, but the best part is you can also get a beautiful view of Crescent Lake while you’re there.
Uzima Springs Pool (Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge)
Last but not least is the Uzima Springs Pool at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. The greatest part of this pool is that it faces the Uzima Savanna. But even if you don’t see animals while swimming, you can still enjoy this large and lush pool by relaxing in the shade (or sun) or going down the waterslide. There’s also a really great hot tub, and a smaller, but just as fun, waterslide.
As usual, there is a bar nearby for food and beverages.
Copper Creek Springs Pool (Disney’s Wilderness Lodge)
The Wilderness Lodge is one of my favorite resorts at Walt Disney World, and one of the reasons is its pool. One of the neatest things about the Copper Creek Springs Pool is that it starts inside the lobby of Disney’s Wilderness Lodge– there is a small bridge and geyser in the lobby of the lodge, and you can walk outside and follow it all the way down to the pool! But real the reason I love this pool is the beauty surrounding it.
The stunning beauty of the Wilderness Lodge surrounds you, plus the trees and Bay Lake down below. In addition, you can get a bite to eat or drink at the new Geyser Point Bar and Grill- I highly recommend their crab cake sandwich with waffle fries.
Lava Pool (Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort)
Another zero entry pool at Walt Disney World is the Lava Pool at Disney’s Polynesian Resort. The volcano looms large nearby, there isn’t lava inside, but a waterslide 142 feet long. The Oasis Bar and Grill nearby offers Polynesian-themed food such as pork sliders and Hawaiian beer. This pool is a great place to get away from it all even in the middle of a busy resort such as the Polynesian Village Resort.
Big Blue Pool (Disney’s Art of Animation Resort)
The Big Blue Pool is the main pool at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. While this is the only value resort pool on my list, it definitely has a deluxe resort vibe (minus the hot tub and water slide). Not only is it the largest hotel pool in all of the Walt Disney World Resort, it’s also one of the few zero-entry pools at Walt Disney World (though they are adding more in each time they do a major refurbishment).
I love this pool because it’s so big it actually feels like you’re in the ocean, much like Nemo himself. It definitely has a wave pool vibe! Maybe at the next refurbishment they’ll add in waves.
All of the Walt Disney World Resort pools are amazing- from the main pools at the resorts to the smaller, quiet pools. Do you have a favorite pool at the Walt Disney World Resort? Let me know in the comments below!
