The Senses Spa on Disney Cruise Line

It’s certainly no secret that your Disney Park Princess love to be pampered! One of the best ways to pamper yourself is a spa treatment on Disney Cruise Line. Or, even better, two spa treatments, which is what we indulged in recently on the Disney Magic!

The Senses Spa and Salon is on every Disney cruise ship, located in the forward on deck 11 (and also on deck 12 on the Fantasy and Dream).

Tip- upon embarkation take a spa tour! They often have specials if you book a treatment on the first day of your cruise, and they have raffles for free spa treatments.

Treatment options

There are a wide variety of treatment options at the Senses Spa so you can pamper yourself in many ways. On my recent cruise I had two spa treatments- a Hot Stone Massage and a Facial. When I arrived for my first appointment I had to fill out a form that asked if I had any medical issues or concerns. Then a spa technician led me to the locker room to change and wait for my massage therapist.

Next, I was able to wait on a lounge chair in my very plush robe for the therapist to come and get me. I was already relaxed before the treatment even began! Once I was in the massage room I was treated to a fabulous Hot Stone Massage. This is a full body massage but in addition to the masseuse’s hands you get massaged with warm flat stones! It’s amazing!

The second treatment I had was a Facial. This time when I arrived I didn’t have to fill out the form so I was able go straight to the relaxation room. The technicia brought me to a room with a bed and we soon began the treatment. She put a mask over my eyes most of the time so the lights did not bother me. Not only did we do the facial but she also did a scalp and shoulder massage.

I can’t decide which treatment I liked better. They were very different and both were amazing. For relaxation alone I preferred the massage, but the facial was fantastic at making me feel truly pampered!

Tip- the massage tables have a warming pad on them so you can ask to have the heat turned up or down to suit your needs. You can also ask for a heavier or lighter blanket on top.

Don’t Forget the Men!

The Senses Spa has several men’s specials such as a shave and a haircut (two bits) and skin treatments. And of course they can do any of the treatments listed on the spa menu.

Hair/Nail Salon

The Senses Salon has quite a few different nail services too. While I didn’t have one on this ship, the Fire and Ice Manicure and Pedicure remains one of my favorites! The use of hot stones and cooling gels make for an incredible time.
In addition they have hair services and teeth whitening services.

Tip- While children aren’t allowed for spa treatments, they can get mani/pedis! My daughter had an Ice Cream Pedicure on the Wonder, where they used chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, and marshmallow scented lotions on her!

Rainforest Room

The pièce de résistance of the Senses Spa is the Rainforest Room! This area has a few different sauna/steam room options as well as heated-tile lounge chairs and showers with different temperatures and water settings. While not included in your treatment, the price is reasonable for a day or the whole cruise. The cost is about $16 per person per day, or it’s less if you get a pass for the entire cruise. They can sell out so it’s good to get one on the first day or two of the cruise.

Tip- This is co-ed so bathing suits are required.

Fitness Center and Classes

The Spa also has a fitness center with state of the art gym equipment and free weights. The cardio equipment is located up near the large panoramic windows so you can see the ocean- not a bad way to work out! The gym is open 6 am-10 pm so you can get in a workout almost any time you like.

And of course there are a wide variety of workout classes that range from yoga and pilates to body sculpt boot camp so you can take advantage of those if you’re interested. Many classes are an additional fee, but there are quite a few classes that are no charge to you, just sign up early for them to ensure there is space for you!

Customer Service

I found the spa quite accommodating with me- we made a few different changes to our appointments including changing the time and date, and also changing the type of facial treatment I was going to have. This time around the spa therapists did a lot less pushing of products than they have done in the past and I was very happy about that.

These were two of the best experiences I have had in a cruise ship Spa!
