One of the most magical parts of any trip to Walt Disney World, Disneyland, or a Disney Cruise is meeting with the many characters in the parks and ships. Because Mickey Mouse is my favorite character, I thought I should highlight these amazing spots to get a photo with the Big Cheese Mickey Mouse himself at Walt Disney World. And you know that your Disney Park Princesses love a good outfit- each one of these places has Mickey wearing different clothes for each occasion!
Disney’s Contemporary Resort- Chef Mickey
One of the reasons I love this character meal is its proximity to Magic Kingdom, so it’s simple to get to from just about anywhere. Upon arriving at the restaurant, you can get your photo made with the Chef Mickey statue. The food is served on a buffet, so no matter what time of day you go there is food for everyone. And you can make a hot fudge sundae at the ice cream bar too! Mickey Mouse and friends (usually Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto) stay busy in the kitchen cooking, but they aren’t too busy to come out in their kitchen attire to greet you at your table.
The outfits are really fun, and they all fit their personalities. Each character will stop by your table for photos before moving on to the next table, but there is plenty of time in between characters to go back to the buffet if you like. You’ll need your own camera since there is no PhotoPass photographer here.

Animal Kingdom- Adventurers Outpost
I love this interaction for several reasons (and I’m not even counting its proximity to the Nomad Lounge!). One is that it is one of the few places to take a photo with both Mickey Mouse and Minnie together, and another is that the Safari Outfits they are wearing are absolutely adorable!
But the best part of this experience is that the line is usually not very long, making it a great way to meet characters without much wait at all! FastPass+ is available here, but I don’t think you need it! If there is a wait you can take notice of some of the fun signage in the queue while you wait.
PhotoPass photographers are on hand to take your photo, but they don’t mind snapping a few with your personal camera as well.
Epcot- The Garden Grill
While the Garden Grill is listed as “Chip N Dale’s Harvest Feast”, you can still find Mickey here at this restaurant in his Farmer Mickey attire! (Pluto is often here too!) The Garden Grill is a rotating restaurant and features fresh vegetables, most of which are grown right there in Epcot. The food is served family style and is all you can eat. If you want to take photos with the characters try to sit on the ends of the booths. Like Chef Mickey, you’ll need your own camera here.
Epcot- Character Spot
Located in Future World, this is a great place to meet not just Mickey Mouse but also Minnie and Goofy. They are separate interactions but with one line- a separate line is across the breezeway for other characters such as Joy and Sadness (Inside Out) and Baymax (Big Hero 6). For Mickey he is wearing his tuxedo and tails, one of the few places to see this classic outfit!
The lines here can get a little long, but FastPass+ is available if you want to use one of your FP+ for a character interaction.
Magic Kingdom- Town Square- NEW!
While this meeting with Mickey has been around for a few years, this is the first time he has appeared with Minnie Mouse in one meet at the Town Square location. They have brand new birthday celebration outfits, and they have birthday hats on too! Minnie’s dress is really festive and Mickey looks like he’s ready for a great party. I can’t wait to meet them here on my next trip to Walt Disney World! A PhotoPass Photographer will take some photos, and you can also hand your camera to the cast member standing by for extras.
